Our Corporate History

Bósforos and Sultan Palast were built on the foundations of the extensive gastronomic experience of our founder, Çetin Doğan, his work discipline, and his dedication to Turkish cuisine. His journey, which began in Diyarbakır, along with the professional life he entered at an early age and his goal of developing himself in Europe, constitute the fundamental elements of the process that has brought the brand to where it stands today.

Çetin Doğan became familiar with culinary culture at a very early age and, at the age of 14, moved to Istanbul, where he took his first professional steps in the sector. He later traveled to Germany on a student visa, where he had the opportunity to closely experience the structure of European gastronomy, and subsequently moved to Madrid to further develop his vision of representing Turkish cuisine on an international level. The support of his mentors, Hıdır Kaçar and Nuri Kaçar, played an important role in shaping the fundamental principles of the brand.

The Bośforos and Sultan Palast brand began its operations with the opening of its first branch on Gran Vía – Calle Hortaleza, one of the most central areas of Madrid. In line with Çetin Doğan’s sensitivity to quality and authenticity, Bośforos and Sultan Palast offered the traditional flavors of Turkish cuisine—such as lahmacun, pide, grilled meats, and 100% natural leaf-style döner—under a standard based on cleanliness and meticulous attention to detail. Daily halal slaughter, additive-free döner, and in-house production of bread and pide constitute the essential elements of their quality-driven approach.

The fact that most restaurants operating in Madrid under the name “Turkish restaurant” were not actually Turkish further defined the brand’s positioning. Bośforos and Sultan Palast became a pioneering brand representing authentic Turkish cuisine with a 100% Turkish team, original recipes, and completely natural products.

The brand grew rapidly thanks to the expansion of its customer base and the increase in demand, reaching a strong position in Madrid with 14 branches. Throughout this process, it strengthened its international recognition through relationships established with embassies, NATO, sports clubs, and media organizations. The awards received serve as proof of the industry’s recognition of its quality standards.

The path to success of Bośforos and Sultan Palast was not limited solely to restaurant management; in the years 2024–2025, investments were also made in the hospitality and construction sectors. The projects implemented in Madrid and Çeşme (İzmir) are part of the brand’s multidimensional growth strategy. With the involvement of family members in management, Bośforos strengthens its operational power through a solid family-based structure.
